The Central government’s long-awaited recent move to relocate border fencing in Punjab closer to the international boundary with Pakistan may finally offer farmers the freedom they have awaited for decades. Trapped between the border fence and the Zero Line, farmers are hopeful that they will be able to access their fields freely, have more crop choices, and be free from restricted farming hours and frequent security checks.
