Meta issued a statement on Wednesday to warn Android and iPhone users about a fake WhatsApp app that was being used for spying on users, according to a report. The US-based tech giant reportedly said that the spyware targeted about 200 Android and iPhone users in Italy. The fake WhatsApp was created by Asigint, which is part of Italy’s Cantu-based Sio Spa group, the report added. The Mark Zuckerberg-led firm reportedly said that it has disconnected the affected accounts and warned the users of the privacy and security risks.
