The cyclonic storm Montha is getting stronger over the Bay of Bengal. Authorities in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district have started a large-scale evacuation as heavy rain and strong winds are expected.
Nearly 10,000 people are being shifted to safer areas, while 126 pregnant women have been moved to hospitals along the coastline. Around 120 relief camps have been opened to provide food, water, and shelter for the evacuated families.

Collector Ch. Nagarani said 16 relief camps have been opened, and 68 machines are ready to restore power and roads after the cyclone.
“The Narsapuram coastline is under watch. NDRF and SDRF teams are ready for rescue work,” the collector said.
Farmers have also paused paddy harvesting to avoid damage from continuous rain and wind.
