Amazon has launched a new subscription tier in India for its Amazon Music platform. Now, it will serve as the only subscription plan in the country. However, the US-based tech giant plans to launch a new free tier for users in the country, which will play ads for users, similar to Spotify’s free access. While access to Amazon Music will remain included in the Amazon Prime membership, the app will start playing “limited ads” for subscribers starting July 2. With this, the company appears to be following the same strategy as it did for the Prime Video platform, which asks Prime members to pay more for an ad-free experience.
