Apple has announced iOS 26.5 changes in Brazil that will allow alternative app marketplaces and third-party payment options on iPhones following an agreement with regulator CADE. The company will require app notarisation and marketplace authorisation as part of new security measures. Apple has also introduced revised commissions for developers using alternative distribution and payment methods. Epic Games and the Coalition for App Fairness criticised the framework, arguing that the fees and reporting requirements continue to discourage competition in the mobile app ecosystem.
