Apple’s upcoming iPhone operating system version will reportedly support third-party media-casting protocols. Apple’s iOS 27 is said to support AirPlay alternatives by default to meet new EU requirements. The company, to comply with the requirements of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, is building support for third-party AirPlay streaming alternatives in iOS 27. This update will let third-party apps, such as Google Cast, be set as the default solution for beaming video, photos and audio from an Apple device to a speaker or TV.
